The software needs to be ordered and paid with real money before you can actually get a key to activate the trial mode. However, I've seen that on the official website the software is listed with DEMO for license which means that you shouldn't need a key to install and use it on your computer. The key is required to activate the software to enable its full use.
Using the 30 day trial, can we complete an estimate and upload pictures?

The Xactimate appears to be more of a corporate application, meaning that no exact information is provided to users regarding the trial version. I've searched through the website to find the exact limitations for the trial version, but it appears there is nothing available.
For an official response, I strongly recommend getting in touch with their support team. Since they're focused only their apps, they should provide an exact answer regarding the features and possibilities available in the trial version of Xactimate.
In sketch, with two different levels of structure (main floor and a 2nd floor with a smaller foot print) where some of the roof is above a single story and some is on the 2nd story, is there any way to get these all on one roof level in Xactimate?

Since I didn't find anywhere the solution for your inquiry, I strongly recommend checking the available PDF file. It's comprehensive and contains all the necessary information related to how the program works and how to work with the software.
It is not appropriate to ask for a product key code or how to bypass it. Please obtain a legal product key to use the software.
